About the event

The exhibition, organised in collaboration with the Museo del Paesaggio del Lago di Como, presents a group of silk jacquard reproductions, also called tableaux tissés, dedicated to Lake Como from 1899 to today. They come from the Museum's archives.

Through an analysis of the subjects, the iconographic sources and the methods of transferring images to the loom, the exhibition traces how Como's silk manufacturing helped define and spread the image of the Lario. A selection of nineteenth-century prints documents the visual sources and compositional models from which the works derive.

The exhibition is part of the programme of events promoted by the Museo della Seta di Como under the theme "IL PAESAGGIO COME OPERA D'ARTE. Percorsi tra natura, creatività e bellezza", carried out together with the Ville e Musei del Lago di Como network.
