Guided visit to the Gipsoteca of the Fondazione Mozzanica in Merate

About the event

The visit takes place at the Fondazione Giuseppe Mozzanica in Pagnano di Merate, in the Brianza area. It centres on the Gipsoteca, one of very few in Italy, built in 1959 at the wish of the Lombard sculptor Giuseppe Mozzanica. Natural light enters through large windows and falls on a collection of plaster sculptures and models.

The guided route covers the whole museum complex. It passes through the Cortile dei Bronzi, where bronze and marble sculptures are displayed, and the rooms on artistic techniques, with casts, sketches, original tools, chisels and implements made by Mozzanica himself. The visit explains how plaster, marble and bronze are worked.

Visitors also see Mozzanica's work as a painter, with portraits, landscapes and still lifes, and bronze heads in the rooms and the garden.
