About the event

The Monumento ai Caduti is open to the public from 2 June to 4 November 2026, on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

The monument was built in the early 1930s, after a series of designs had been judged unsuitable. When he visited an exhibition of Antonio Sant'Elia at the city's Broletto, Filippo Tommaso Marinetti suggested building the commemorative tower on the basis of a drawing by Sant'Elia.

Enrico Prampolini was the first to work on turning the drawing into architecture, followed by Attilio Terragni. Giuseppe Terragni joined once construction was already well advanced.
