Il suono della luce: opening concert of the Como Conservatorio

About the event

The Conservatorio di Como opens the 2026/2027 academic year with a symphonic evening titled Il suono della luce. The orchestra of the Conservatorio plays under the direction of Margherita Colombo.

The setting is Palazzo Terragni, a masterpiece of Italian Rationalism and now home to the Guardia di Finanza. Its geometry, rhythm and symmetry inspire the concept of the programme.

The evening begins with Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23 in A major, K 488, with pianist Milena Kharaneka. It continues with two works for strings from Britain: Elgar's Serenade op. 20, intimate and melancholic, and Holst's St. Paul's Suite op. 29 no. 2, full of popular verve, ending with The Dargason and the tune of Greensleeves.

During the introduction to the evening, the new name of the Conservatorio di Como will be announced. It was chosen in a public poll open until 31 October 2026.
